Good morning parents, students, and friends of Sanborn Regional High School.

Here are your important announcements for the week of October 3:

1. I will hold my second PAC meeting of the year this Wednesday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Michelle Catena, Guidance Director, will speak about the guidance curriculum and answer any questions you may have. I hope you will join us in the library.

2. Congratulations to all the students, teachers, and parents who made Homecoming 2011 a huge success. Despite the rain we had excellent turnouts at all of our games on Friday afternoon and Saturday. Saturday night's football game and bonfire provided a great end to a long week. Congratulations to the freshman class for receiving the highest percentage of attendance at the headcount prior to the football game, to the junior class for winning the hall decorating, for the girls' soccer team for winning the overall spirit cheer at the pep rally, and for the Senior class earning the highest total points for all events and thus for willing the trophy for 2011!

3. Margaret Callahan, the Principal at SST, has asked that I share with you a letter she is sending to folks in the SST community about potential funding issues at the state-level that may impact SST's ability to offer the same level of programming to Sanborn students in the future. I have attached her narrative. She is asking concerned parents to make contact with their legislators to express their opinion on this important topic. Approximately 125 Sanborn students participate in at least one SST program during their time here, which represented almost 20% of our student population. A reduction in services at SST would impact Sanborn significantly. Please consider contacting your local representatives and make your voice heard on this important topic!

4. The guidance department has asked that I include two attachments for you in this email: Scholarship News, and a calendar of important guidance dates for October. Please contact the guidance office at 642-3600 if you have any questions.

5. NECAP testing for juniors begins TODAY. All grades will be impacted during NECAP testing over the next two weeks as our bell schedule is different. I have attached a copy of that schedule for your records.

6. Don't forget to review your child's attendance and academic information on Pinnacle. If you lost or forgot your user name or password, you can contact the guidance office at 642-3600. We are half way through the first quarter, so it is time to review your child's progress grades. If you have questions about individual grades you see, please contact your child's teacher directly.

Have a great week everyone!
