My First Pecha Kucha Presentation
Today, my school librarian Pam Harland has asked me to deliver a Pecha Kucha presentation at New Hampshire's Library Camp 2013, a conference sponsored by the NH School Library Media Association. Pecha Kucha is a Japanese word for chit-chat. In the Pecha Kucha style, 20 Power Point slides are shown, each for 20 seconds in length. The entire presentation is 6 minutes and 40 seconds in length, and forces presenters to keep their thoughts concise and fast-paced with lots of images. It is a very interesting model, and I am looking forward to giving it a try today.
My topic is this: Change is coming to your school, is your library ready? My goal is to help school librarians understand that as we redesign our schools to meet the needs of students in the twenty first century, our libraries need to evolve too. I see a school library as "the center of the academic universe of a school."
Here is a video of my Pecha Kucha presentation for today. Wish me luck!
