SRHS Update: Week of October 31
Happy "belated" Halloween. I hope you all survived the storm and are either back (or soon to be back) on the grid later today. Here are some important announcements from Sanborn HS for the week.
1. We are in the process of rolling out a new "Google Ap" and "Google email" system for students. You can read more about this program in the attachment to this email - a letter written by Dr. Blake to all parents in the Sanborn Schools.
2. Did you know that Sanborn HS will be the first in the nation to install a new solar heating system? This system is being installed at NO COST to the taxpayers and it is estimated to save us almost $20,000.00 in heating costs. You can read more about this exciting project here:

Work will begin in a couple weeks. Solar panels will be installed on the side of the building that faces Route 111. A mock-up of the solar panel design can be found on the building now, on the end of the classroom wing by visitor parking.
3. This week I will host my monthly PAC meeting in the library from 6-7pm. We will have two topics to discuss: 1. My admin team and I are working on a potential new discipline structure for next year that includes the use of privileges and I would like your input. 2. I have been working with a small group of parents to get a PTO started. We would like to share our work with the PAC and use your feedback to fine-tune our by-laws and implementation plan. It is my vision that the PTO will establish itself this year as a group to support SRHS in many ways. The PAC will continue to exist in its current advisory role.
4. Last Friday quarter 1 grades closed. Once report cards are available on the Pinnacle system, I will send an email. Due to the storm, this may be delayed until later this week.
5. Wednesday is an early release day, school ends at noon.
6. This Friday night, come support the third annual Mr. Sanborn Contest!
7. Next Monday evening, we will hold our fall sports awards.
8. Congratulations to the Sanborn Varsity Cheer Team for its third place finish at the March of Dimes Spirit Round Up Cheer and Dance Invitational last Sunday at Pinkerton!
Have a great week everyone!
