SRHS Update: Week of March 26

Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Sanborn Regional High School. Here are your important announcements for the week:

1. Did you know we now have our very own PTO? Please consider joining. The membership form is attached.

2. Quarter 3 ends this Friday!

3. The Guidance Department is excited to expand our parent evenings and is hosting a presentation by the New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) for Sophomore parents & students on April 16th from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the high school library! NHHEAF will explore and review how students can be making the most of their 4 years of high school to better prepare them for the choices they will make regarding their future plans of college, military, or the work force . The Guidance Department will also review our specific credit and graduation requirements and will answer any questions you have. Please contact the Guidance Department if you have any questions at 642-3600.

4. The scholarship newsletter for the week of March 23 is attached.

5. A big thank you to our Key Club for inviting guest speaker Tricia Messler to speak to our students about the campaign to "Spread the Word to End the Word". The purpose of this campaign is to raise people’s awareness of the derogatory use of the R-Word (retard or retarded) and its negative effects on people with intellectual disabilities as well as their families and friends. It is intended to engage school organizations and communities to rally and pledge their support. Students had the opportunity to sign up online to join the campaign and leave a special post-it message on a banner that will stay in our school. For more information, visit http://www.r-word.org/.

6. Special Event: Hear the story of Chris Herren, a basketball legend from Fall River, Massachusetts that realized his dreams by playing for the Celtics in the NBA, only to lose it all to addiction. April 5 at 7pm at the Timberlane Regional High School Performing Arts Center. See the attached flyer for more information

7. The post-prom planning committee is currently running several fundraisers, including one with Perella's Pizza of Haverhill (see attached flyer). This is a
parent-run event and they need your help!
